Angeles Press opened in May 1980.

I was raised in upstate New York and the Maine Coast. After studying sociology and architecture at University, I switched gears and became a printer fellow at Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque. In establishing a studio, it was a choice between NY and LA. I headed west. DTLA in the 80’s was a burgeoning art community. The Traction Avenue studio was to be the first of several locations. We kept moving with the rhythm that is Los Angeles, a mix of cultures, technology, entertainment and real estate.
